The Laura Brooke Music Foundation
At the age of 14, Laura Brooke was tragically killed in a car accident on June 30, 2007. She was a graduate of the BAK Middle School of the Arts in Palm Beach County Florida, and had been accepted to Dreyfoos High School of the Arts for the following September.
Laura Brooke Buonpastore had been an exceptional music student for seven years. She started her studies with vocals, eventually piano, and finally fell in love with the guitar. As her skills improved, she began playing publicly at various open mics and concerts including Sunfest, Delray Beach’s ‘Art on the Avenue’, and several other events.
In 2006 Laura began work on an album of original music entitled ‘Right Place, Wrong Time.’ Unfortunately, she was killed before its completion, but her mother, Cindy Buonpastore and friends finished the recordings afterward. The CD was released at a benefit concert for the Foundation which was held at the BAK MSOA on November 10, 2007. The event was a brilliant success that yielded a great deal of local attention and financial support.
A bright, young musician Laura was a rising star. Her dream was to become a professional musician and a teacher. Our goal is to pass the dream from the Laura Brooke Music Foundation to new up and coming musicians who share the same passion for music as she. Our purpose is to provide financial aid to those who cannot afford to pay for music instruction. Therefore, we rely on financial donations, but instruments are also accepted. Any assistance, support, or cooperation is coveted and greatly appreciated in our efforts to fulfill the dream.
